How to Create Sections While Building a Template in Knowella

    2 min read

Learn how to organize your form using sections to improve structure, readability, and user experience.

Sections help you divide your form into clear and logical parts. By grouping related questions together, sections make forms easier to understand, navigate, and complete.

    What are Sections?

Sections are used to organize your form into structured blocks. Each section can contain multiple questions related to a specific topic or step in the workflow. Think of sections as chapters in a form, helping users move through it step by step.

    When can you create Sections?

Sections are created during the Build App phase of template creation. After completing the General Information step, you can start building your form using sections and fields.

    Steps to create Sections

Follow these steps to add sections to your template:

Step 1: Create or open a Template

    • Log in to the Knowella platform
    • Click the menu icon on the left-hand side
    • Go to App Builder
    • Click Create Template or open an existing template
    • Complete the General Information step
    • Move to the Build App step

    Step 2: Add a Section

    • In the left panel, locate the Section option
    • Drag the Section and drop it into the form area
    • Once added, configure the section as needed

    Configuring a Section

After adding a section, you can customize it based on your requirements:

    • Add a section title
    • Add questions inside the section
    • Choose field types (text, dropdown, checkbox, etc.)
    • Mark fields as mandatory if required

This allows you to structure your form in a meaningful way.

    Why are Sections important?

Using sections improves both usability and clarity.

    Sections help to:

    • Organize complex forms
    • Group related questions together
    • Improve user experience
    • Make forms easier to read and complete

    Best practices

    To design effective sections:

    • Use clear and descriptive section names
    • Avoid creating too many sections
    • Group related questions logically
    • Keep sections balanced (not too long or too short)
    • Test the form using Preview mode before publishing

    Why this matters

Well-structured forms lead to better data collection.

    Using sections correctly helps:

    • Reduce confusion for users
    • Improve completion rates
    • Ensure consistent and accurate data
